Welcome to Oakland

Gymnastics Training Center!

Our experienced and caring coaching staff strive to provide a positive atmosphere for developing self esteem and confidence while creating an environment that is both challenging and, of course, FUN!

We consider it a privilege to have the opportunity to work with your child and hope that all of your experiences at Oakland are both enjoyable and fulfulling.

Upon arrival for class...

  • If today's class is your first class at Oakland, be sure to first stop in the Business Office, located in the Pre-School/Recreational Gym Lobby (this is the lobby painted light blue in color) to fill out all necessary paperwork.
  • Please store shoes and clothing in the green cubbies located in the main lobby.
  • Be sure to check the bulletin boards in the main lobby for gym happenings!
  • Please wait in the main lobby prior to the start of your class.  Coaching Staff will announce the start of classes and direct all children onto the gym floor at the same time.
  • Parents and siblings are NOT allowed on the gym floor.  For your convenience we have two viewing rooms.  One is located off of the main lobby and is complete with a small work station. The second is located upstairs (the stairway is just inside the gym door).

Pre-School Classes...

  • All Pre-School classes offered at the same time will warm-up together.  This warm-up lasts for 5 to 10 minutes during which time coaches review basic and progressive positions.  A group activity may be included at the beginning or the end of the warm-up enhancing the theme for the week.  Upon completion of warm-up children will be separated into their appropriate groups.
  • All Pre-School classes are 40 minutes in length.

Girls Attire...

  • A leotard without a skirt or tights.
  • No socks (if uncomfortable with bare feet, gymnastics shoes may be worn - check with office manager for information regarding gymnastics shoes).
  • Hair pulled up off of the face and neck (for safety reasons).
  • No jewelry (except stud earrings).

Boys Attire...

Attire for Participating Parents

  • Comfortable sportswear.

  • For safety, we recommend jewelry that could scratch your child or catch attire not be worn during class.

  • Restrooms are located in the main lobby, the competitive team lobby and, of course, inside the gym.
  • No gum, food or drinks (except water) in the main lobby or gym.  Please use the competitive team lobby for snacking.
  • Water bottles can be kept in the gym on the gray water shelf during class.  Please be certain to label your child's water bottle.  Should you choose not to send a water bottle with your child, we have a drinking fountain in the gym for your convenience.
  • The two restrooms located in the main lobby double as changing rooms.
  • For those parents who have diaper aged children, we have a diaper changing station in the restroom in the main lobby behind the connecting door.
  • For your convenience, there is a drink cooler/machine in the business office, and a refrigerator, microwave, tables and chairs located in the competitive team lobby.
  • Don't forget, all MEMBERS are entitled to two MAKE-UPS per session.  Parent MUST schedule MAKE-UP date and time with the office in advance to insure adequate staffing. MAKE –UPS cannot be carried into the next session or pro-rated.

  • Feel free to contact your child's coach for any gymnastics related questions.  You can do so by speaking with he or she before or after class (time permitting), leaving a message with the office manager, or via email at kidsflip4us@oakland-gymnastics.com.
